These terms apply when you sell a watch to Moon Phase Watch Company outright, trade one against a piece from our inventory, or place one with us on consignment.
Your ownership and authority
By submitting a watch you confirm that you own it outright, that it is free of any loan, lien, or claim, and that you are legally able to sell it. You also confirm that it is genuine to the best of your knowledge and that you have disclosed any service history, replaced parts, or damage you are aware of.
Submission and appraisal
Submitting a watch through this site starts a conversation, not a binding sale. A specialist reviews your photographs and details, then confirms an indicative figure. Any figure quoted before physical inspection is provisional and may change once we have the watch in hand.
Inspection and authentication
Once we receive the watch we inspect and authenticate it. If it differs materially from what was described, we will tell you and either revise the offer or return the watch to you at our cost.
Consignment terms
For consigned pieces, you set the asking price with guidance from our specialists and you approve any offer before it is accepted. Our commission is agreed in writing before the watch is listed and is deducted from the sale proceeds, so the net figure you are quoted is the figure you receive.
Custody and insurance
Watches held by us are stored securely and are insured while in our care. Shipping to us should use the insured, tracked method we arrange or approve.
Payment
For an outright sale we pay once inspection is complete and the sale is agreed. For a consignment we pay after the buyer has completed payment and any inspection period has closed. Payment is made by bank transfer to an account in your name.
Withdrawing a watch
You may withdraw a consigned watch that has not yet been sold. If we have already incurred costs such as photography, servicing, or shipping, those costs may be recoverable. Your specialist will set out any such amount before you consign.
